SCI seeks a Farm Program Specialist to work with farmers in the Delta Region who wish to transition to regenerative agriculture and be part of a dynamic program to build markets for rice and other regeneratively-grown products in the Delta. You’ll join our growing, passionate SCI Team, (www.soilclimateinitiative.org/team), which includes two colleagues who work and farm in Arkansas, along with Delta Regen Rice+ founding farmers, who are already engaged in pilots in the region.

The Opportunity

Support the transformation of agriculture in the Mississippi Delta as the operational backbone of our regenerative agriculture transition program. As SCI’s Farm Program Specialist, you'll ensure program excellence through meticulous compliance management and farmer coordination, directly enabling the success of farmers transitioning from conventional to regenerative practices.

Working primarily with rice farming operations across the Delta, you'll be the essential link between farmers and our technical support team, ensuring documentation is complete, requirements are met, and farmers receive the coordinated support they need. This role places you at the operational heart of a movement to prove that farming can be a powerful solution to climate change while supporting thriving agricultural communities.

Your Impact

Deliver Program Excellence through Effective Farmer Engagement (60%)

Serve as the primary farm program account manager, tracking farmer progress across the Delta Regen Rice+ Project and other verification-oriented initiatives. You'll build strong working relationships with our farmer participants and proactively support them in their program participation by: building trust and buy-in for the program, identifying missing documentation, co-developing technical support packages suited to participants' individual needs, and maintaining comprehensive tracking systems that ensure program quality and farmer success.

Enable Strategic Program Coordination (25%)

Transform expert consultations into actionable resources by adapting farmer interview transcripts into farm plans, soil health reports, field activity logs, and completed SCI forms. Your document generation and administrative coordination will ensure all materials are clear, actionable, and properly formatted, directly supporting farmers in their regenerative transition journey.

Facilitate Learning and Engagement (15%)

Coordinate the logistics that make learning possible by scheduling farm plan consultations, webinars, office hours, and field days. You'll coordinate group learning sessions and farmer working groups, ensuring farmers have access to the peer networks and educational resources that drive successful transitions to regenerative practices.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with farmers, agricultural producers, and/or rural communities
  • 5+ years of experience in program coordination, compliance management, or administrative roles requiring systematic tracking
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with demonstrated experience managing complex documentation and compliance systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple requirements across large portfolios
  • Experience coordinating schedules and communications between multiple stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, CRM systems, and database management

Your Impact

Drive Regional Transformation

Build Strategic Partnerships

Develop and manage relationships with processors, CPGs, and supply chain partners to create market incentives and access for regeneratively grown crops. Your partnership strategies will provide the economic foundation that makes regenerative transition sustainable for farmers.

Manage Stakeholder Relationships

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience working with farmers and/or food companies
  • Experience with regenerative, organic, or biologically-based agricultural systems

NDA team members can choose to work remotely or in our Washington, DC office. This position could involve occasional travel including to Network meetings, conferences and business cultivation meetings, staff training, Green America’s annual staff and board retreat and other stakeholder engagement meetings.   
 

Key Responsibilities 

Program & Event Support 

  • Help design, plan, and execute network meetings, webinars, and working groups (virtual and in-person), including speaker coordination, session development, and participant communications. 

  • Ensure events run smoothly through clear communications, organized logistics, and timely follow-up with stakeholders. 

  • Translate discussions and working group activities into actionable next steps and shared resources for members.

Communications & Knowledge Management

  • Foundational knowledge of regenerative agriculture and sustainable food systems; demonstrated interest in the role of nutrition and nutrient density in human health. 

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving circumstances. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling messages.

The Clean Electronics Production Network (CEPN) is a multi-stakeholder, cross-industry collaboration that launched in 2016. The goal of the network is to move the electronics industry towards zero exposure to toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process. 

CEPN is an Innovation Network of the Center for Sustainability Solutions. The Center builds on Green America’s work over the years, where we have brought together industry groups across supply chains to create major shifts in areas such as electronics, solar, community investing, sustainable agriculture and fair labor. The Center supports Innovation Networks, focused working groups of stakeholders with the objective of making significant, industry-wide system change. Current networks focus on clean electronics, regenerative agriculture, and food system nutrient density.

 

Role Description

CEPN will be undertaking the second phase of a project to create and deploy chemical safety trainings to suppliers in the electronics supply chain. This project includes the following objectives:

  • Disseminate best practices in process chemical management to upstream suppliers 
  • Reduce worker exposures to hazardous chemicals in the electronics industry  
  • Strengthen worker safety and engagement 
  • Capacity development for local service providers to deliver impactful and cost-effective training and advisory service 

Working closely with the CEPN Senior Director and with support from the CEPN Program Manager, the Senior Fellow will lead the management and growth of Phase 2 of this grant-funded project by providing technical expertise and project management.

Phase 1 of the project, which is nearly complete, included the development of the training materials and outreach to supplier facilities to generate interest in participation.

Phase 2, which will begin August 2024, includes three primary elements:

  1. Capacity Development for Local Service Providers: Train local service providers in Vietnam and Malaysia to deliver chemical safety training (this will be done remotely)
  2. Beta Testing: Deploy the worker and manager training modules in three modalities (in person training, webinars and digital interactive training) to selected suppliers facilities; and collect feedback
  3. Improve Training: Work with our training developer to refine and improve the training based on feedback from the beta testing 

In addition to managing this project, the Senior Fellow may provide occasional support to the Senior Director in crafting strategic direction for CEPN and other ongoing initiatives including network management and strategic planning.  

CEPN staff members work virtually; the position may be housed in Washington, DC at the Green America offices, but may also be filled remotely.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Chemical Safety Training Project Management (90%)

  1. Manage and oversee implementation of Phase 2 of this project.
  2. Develop and manage detailed and complex project plans, including scope, schedules, and resource allocation.
  3. Manage stakeholder engagement including brand/supplier support and coordination during supplier selection, training implementation and feedback stages.
  4. Oversee the selection and management of local service providers in Vietnam and Malaysia. Provide remote support to local service providers during training deployments.
  5. Provide chemical safety training virtually to local service providers in Vietnam and Malaysia using training materials developed during Phase 1 (train the trainer approach) (note that translation services will be available)
  6. Oversee training developer contractor logistics and materials revision.

CEPN Initiative Support (10%)

  1. Participate in strategic planning and stakeholder conversations for CEPN (both internal and external).  
  2. Support long-term mission and strategy of the network.

 

For this position, we are seeking the following skills and key competencies:

  • Demonstrated project management skills, with at least 5 years of experience managing complex projects.
  • Knowledge and experience around designing, deploying and delivering engaging, interactive, and effective occupational health and safety or chemical safety training programs in manufacturing settings.
  • Experience with occupational health and safety, EHS, industrial hygiene and/or chemical safety management.
  • Negotiating experience and the ability to move groups both quickly and collaboratively on key priorities. Experience facilitating large and small group discussions.
  • Strong written communication and research skills; able to synthesize and effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts; attentive to details.

The CEPN Program Manager is responsible for providing project management, coordination and technical development support for CEPN’s ongoing Initiatives, and assisting with management of biannual Network meetings. The Program Manager also assists the Director in stakeholder engagement and recruiting, working group facilitation, and facilitation design for Initiative Group and full Network meetings.

 

The position involves travel 2-4 times per year for 2+ days to working group meetings and events, to be negotiated. CEPN is a virtual Network – the position may be housed in Washington, DC at the Green America offices but may also be filled remotely (with a preference for location in the Bay Area if remote).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Communications

  1. Participate in new participant and CEPN member engagement, including conducting interviews (and pitch meetings, with Director approval) with potential participants.
  2. Work closely with team to ensure that CEPN members are effectively and efficiently engaged in Initiative Group work (and market initiatives, if any).
  3. Support and engage in the development of key project deliverables, including prototype tools (e.g. database development, spreadsheet tool production, survey drafting), meeting reports, fundraising materials and other outputs.  
  4. Lead and coordinate select Initiative Groups.
  5. Assist with content and materials development for CEPN’s web and print presence, and supervise contractor execution of such work.
  6. Provide general operations support to Center for Sustainability Solutions as needed.

 

Meeting Logistics & Team Coordination

  1. Responsible for planning CEPN meetings and related events for up to 60 participants in a remote location, including securing meeting venues, hotels, meals, and staff transportation; communicating with event participants; procuring A/V and meeting materials; and other aspects of event production (with assistance from Green America staff).
  2. Support program team during all-Network meetings as needed – documentation, site owner communication/coordination.
  3. Coordinate the work and participation of contract researchers, designers/developers and facilitators as needed.
  4. Support and engage in the development of meeting strategy, design, and tools.

 

Project Management Support

  1. Support the CEPN Director in managing the Innovation Network and its priority initiatives.
  2. Support the CEPN Director in securing funding and project commitment from new and returning participants.
  3. Assist with coordinating program team and working group meetings.
  4. Support the Director in ensuring knowledge gained is converted into “knowledge capital” for the Center for Sustainability Solutions, including documenting work processes involved in managing INs, and successful strategies used in CEPN operations.
  5. Participate in Green America staff meetings and processes and other duties as required.
     

Qualified Candidates should have the following skills and qualities:

 

  • Demonstrated project management skills, with experience managing several projects simultaneously.
  • A passion for and strong knowledge of sustainability and the electronics industry
  • Strong technical skills at a level that enables development of working tool prototypes for Initiative Groups -- i.e. mastery of Excel, proficiency with simple database development familiarity with common web platforms (SquareSpace, Wordpress)

We are seeking an experienced finance specialist with knowledge of federally funded agricultural conservation programs, technical assistance, and regenerative management. This role involves developing and disseminating educational materials, templates, and training, and providing targeted farmer support. The Finance Specialist will also play an integral role in managing, expanding, and evolving the SCI Farm Transition Fund, which has committed over half a million dollars in regenerative transition finance to date. The Finance Specialist will collaborate closely with the rest of the SCI team to build relationships of trust and respect as we deliver outstanding support to a diverse set of stakeholders across the country.

The Farm Finance Specialist will work closely with the SCI team, as well as our organizational partners in the farm community, to expand farmer access to transition finance as they pursue their soil health and regenerative goals. Responsibilities include: 

  • Conduct a landscape mapping of federal funding opportunities for advancing farm-level regenerative outcomes, especially via Inflation Reduction Act funds and related sources 
  • Work with SCI farmers and partners to understand obstacles and opportunities for funding the regenerative transition on-farm 
  • Contribute to the management and evolution of the SCI Farm Transition Fund, including by seeking new and expanded sources of funding, and developing impactful models for maximizing fund impact

The Clean Electronics Production Network (CEPN) is seeking a communications / outreach contractor to support our work over the next few years. This is a part time (average of approximately 4 to 6 hours per week) ongoing opportunity.

CEPN is a multi-stakeholder, cross-industry collaboration that launched in 2015. The goal of the network is to move the electronics industry towards zero exposure to toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process. CEPN is an innovation network within Green America’s Center for Sustainability Solutions.

In August 2021, CEPN launched Toward Zero Exposure - a commitment program with leading electronics companies to protect workers from chemical hazards in the electronics supply chain. We are seeking to build awareness of this program and expand participation.

Areas of Support:

  1. Outreach: Work with CEPN staff to grow the Toward Zero Exposure program participation by:
    • Supporting new participant outreach and recruitment
    • Identifying and supporting opportunities and events for outreach
    • Developing communication materials / collateral to explain and demonstrate the value of the program

After three years of development and pilots, in collaboration with over 150 stakeholders from across the food supply chain – farmers, suppliers, food companies, soil scientists, investors and NGOs – SCI is preparing to launch the Farm Standard and Go-to-Market Demonstration Pilots in 2022.  SCI has raised $2 million for the 2022/23 phase of work.

The work for this position can be fulfilled remotely or at Green America’s offices in Washington, DC.  Post-pandemic, the position will involve domestic and international travel for business development, strategic partner and stakeholder meetings, pilot development and execution, conferences, and staff meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Launch and Pilot implementation of SCI Farm Standard

  • Develop communications plan and information sessions for farms and food companies interested in the Farm Standard post March 2022 launch.
  • Work closely with SCI Specialist on the ongoing education and support of farms enrolled in the SCI demonstration pilot to ensure successful onboarding for the program.
  • Develop strategy for managing interest, enrollment, and ongoing engagement of farms and CPG's interested in SCI during the demonstration pilot phase.
  • Serve as main point of contact with certification body and manage SCI relationship with certification body.
  • Track and manage work streams to update and modify the Farm Standard based on pilot results.

SCI Verification Work Stream

  • Work with SCI labs, verifiers, and enrollment platform provider to create the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each process step in farm verification.
  • Ensure farm feedback from demonstration pilots is incorporated into the development of SOP's.
  • Create final reporting and data output requirements for labs, and certifiers.  Develop standards and protocols for data sharing, public communications, and public claims made related to farms and company performance within verification program.

SCI Company Commitment Program Standard

  • Lead the scoping and development of Company Commitment Program Requirements, measurement, and verification.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to SCI Project Manager on the development of the Company Standard.

Demonstration Pilot Verification Coordination

  • Coordinate verification requirements across demonstration pilots including facilitating the work of farm consultants, company/brand teams, labs, certifiers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide project management for pilots, as needed.

Data and Systems Infrastructure

  • Oversee selection and build out of data management system including farm data portal, CRM, stakeholder reporting, and other data management needs as specified.

This is a new position on the CSL Network team. Working closely with CSL’s Executive Director and Managing Director, the Policy Director will manage the development and implementation of the Climate Safe Policy Initiative, which aims to inject thought provocation into the debate on financial regulation to reframe the design of the financial system consistent with societal and environmental objectives. This initiative influences financial policies to help meet the network’s goal of aligning bank lending with the Paris Agreement.  

Post-pandemic, this position will involve domestic and international travel for Network meetings, conferences and business cultivation meetings, staff training, and other purposes. Duties and Responsibilities:

Climate Safe Policy Initiative Development & Management

  1. Mobilize a powerful and effective multi-stakeholder network co-creating financial policy and regulatory proposals and practices that can help systemically change the banking and finance sector to accelerate decarbonisation and a just transition to a climate-safe world.
  2. Lead the development and execution of a strategy for achieving initiative goals as well as develop collaborative structures and processes to support the work of this initiative, such as working groups and task forces.
  3. Engage financial regulators, policy makers, bankers, bank clients, and other stakeholders in the work of this initiative, which includes influencing the enactment of financial regulations and policies that address the real impacts of finance on climate, co-creating effective channels for dialogue and constructive debate on taking bolder climate action. This may also include work on primary market policy in conjunction with financial stakeholders to help drive climate solution markets and optimize flows of green finance.
  4. Lead the design, planning, and organizing of meetings and events to advance the work of this initiative as well as facilitate meetings alongside CSL staff.

The goal of the network is to move the electronics industry towards zero exposure to toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process. CEPN is launching a commitment program with leading electronics companies to protect workers from chemical hazards in the electronics supply chain. 

CEPN is an Innovation Network of the Center for Sustainability Solutions. The Center builds on Green America’s work over the years, where we have brought together industry groups across supply chains to create major shifts in areas such as electronics, solar, community investing, sustainable agriculture and fair labor. The Center supports Innovation Networks, focused working groups of stakeholders with the objective of making significant, industry-wide system change. Current networks focus on clean electronics, climate and banking, regenerative agriculture, carbon farming.

This is a new position on the CEPN team. Working closely with the Senior Director, the Senior Programs Specialist will lead the management and growth of the new commitment program, focusing on program execution and new participant outreach. The Senior Program Specialist will also support the Senior Director in providing strategic direction and program management for CEPN and its ongoing initiatives.

Post-pandemic, this position will involve travel for Network meetings, conferences and business cultivation meetings, staff training, and other purposes. Most travel will be domestic, but there may be two or three international trips each year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management

  1. Lead the management and growth of the commitment program, focusing on new participant outreach and program execution including maintaining and refining program requirements, developing materials to effectively communicate the program, and oversee third party verification.

The Clean Electronic Production Network (CEPN) is a multi-stakeholder, cross-industry collaboration (Innovation Network) that launched in 2015. The goal of the network is to move the electronics industry towards zero exposure to toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process.

 

CEP is an Innovation Network of the Center for Sustainability Solutions, which brings all of Green America’s green economy supply-side work into a powerful new flagship program for Green America. The Center convenes multi-stakeholder initiatives dedicated to accelerating the shift to environmental sustainability and social justice, while eliminating environ­mental and human abuses in key areas such as energy, agriculture and manufacturing.

 

The Center builds on Green America’s work over the years, where we’ve brought together industry groups across supply chains to create major shifts in such areas as solar, community investing, recycled paper procurement, and sustainable agriculture.

 

The Director of CEPN will provide strategic direction, lead stakeholder engagement, and oversee the facilitation, coordination, and program management of the network and work of participants toward the Network goal(s). The Director will also oversee the work of a Program Manager who is responsible for coordinating meeting logistics and providing project management support.

 

The position involves travel for Innovation Network meetings and key stakeholder briefings. The position would preferably be based Washington, DC at the Green America offices (with a work-from-home allowance for up to 8 hours a week as determined by supervisor). 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Continue developing new strategies to move the project forward as opportunities evolve.
  2. Lead the effort to successfully support the CEPN, including but not limited to development of strategy, securing funding and project commitment from participants.
  3. Lead new participant and member engagement, including conducting interviews with potential participants. Work closely with team to ensure that network members are effectively and efficiently engaged. Identify new participants and guide/support process for outreach and engagement in network projects.
  4. Build and lead the Design Team meetings and strategy discussions and Co-facilitate working group meetings.
  5. Serve as the point person responsible for producing key project deliverables in a timely manner, including meeting reports, special research projects and other outputs.
  6. Lead the effort to successfully launch, maintain, and evaluate specific initiatives within IN. Develop and implement strategy for advancing the work of the initiative groups with support from Green America and design teams.
  7. Hire and oversee the work of project staff and contract researchers and facilitators as needed.
  8. Lead program budgeting and revenue generation ensure we meet the project’s financial goals.  Manage Participant engagement and recruitment for participant fees and coordinate with the Center Development Director to secure foundation grants and special project funding from private entities.  
  9. Produce communications materials for variety of audiences.
  10. Ensure knowledge gained is converted into “knowledge capital” for Green America, including how to successfully launch new working groups and manage existing Network activities and shift markets toward sustainability. Support strategy, planning and operational needs of the Center for Sustainability Solutions.
  11. Liaise with Green America’s Programs Team, participating in Green America staff meetings, and planning processes.

 

Qualified Candidates should have the following skills and qualities:

 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to developed trusting relationships with senior executives and high-level leaders across the electronics sector.
  • The ability to understand and converse competently about complex supply chain issues with a broad range of stakeholders, and to provide useful frameworks for analysis and action on key supply chain issues.
  • Strong strategic planning, leadership skills and project management skills, with 5+ years of senior management experience and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven experience with fundraising.
  • Proven management skills, including strategy and operations.
  • Negotiating experience and the ability to move groups both quickly and collaboratively on key priorities.
  • A strong knowledge of the electronics industry manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred

The Senior Director will provide leadership and team support in all facets of the network including: strategic direction, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, Network and team management, facilitation and operations management. Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Participant Vetting and Cultivation and Fundraising -30%

  1. Work closely with network manager, design team and CEO to identify qualified, collaborative participants and support processes for stakeholder outreach, engagement and recruitment across all working groups and initiatives.

 

  1. Senior Director is responsible for ensuring revenue targets are attained for both the network and the initiatives. Revenue sources include: participant fees, corporate and foundation grants, major donors, and special project funding from private entities. Support includes development of proposals and partnership agreements. Senior Director will work closely with the network manager and CEO

 

 

Strategy, Planning and Networks Management – 20%

  1. In concert with senior Center staff, develop and implement strategy of the network including working groups and initiatives, and work to oversee and support network directors and their teams as they implement project strategy.
  2. In collaboration with agriculture team, identify priorities, coordinate team work plans, assess capacity, monitor and evaluate progress to ensure the Networks is effective, meaningful, and timely.
  3. Work with CEO to coordinate the work of the network with other Green America priorities.
  4. Work closely with senior Center staff on budget and operating plan development
  5. Track working group and initiative progress against goals and timelines using work management software.
  6. Lead efforts to successfully launch, maintain, and evaluate initiatives within the Agriculture and Food Network.
  7. Attend and contribute to network meetings.
  8. Ensure team produces accurate, high-quality project deliverables in a timely manner, including: meeting reports, special research projects, and other outputs.
  9. Coordinate team in producing communications materials for variety of audiences

Soil Carbon Initiative Management – 50%

  1. Provide direction, oversight and coordination for the continued development of the Soil Carbon Initiative.  In 2020 this work will developing a go to market plan for the standard including identifying the technical development partners needed for the full launch, the supply chain partners needed for the pilot phase, and the funding resources needed
  2. The Senior Director will work closely with the CEO and Design Team to develop a strategic work plan for SCI that covers the next 12 month.

 

The position involves domestic travel for Network meetings, conferences and business cultivation meetings, staff training, and other purposes. Position has direct supervisory responsibility for agricultural Network Manager, the Climate and Agriculture Program Manager, and some contract positions as applicable.

  • A strong knowledge of food and agriculture issues, including GMOs, food supply chains, local foods, and organics.

We seek an experienced Foundations & Major Gifts Manager who can hit the ground running to play a major role in raising new major donor, foundation, and government grant support for Green America’s Center for Sustainability Solutions. This includes cultivation of new major donor prospects; researching and identifying possible foundation support, writing letters of inquiry and full proposals for foundation grant applications, exploring government grant opportunities, and the launching of a new initiative – the Thought Leader Network. We expect the Foundations & Major Gifts Manager to manage a portfolio of 20-30 major donors, build the major donor pipeline with increased and new gifts, oversee the Center’s foundation fundraising, and effectively coordinate with Green America’s President & CEO, the Center Director, and the Director of Development.

 

The position may involve frequent domestic travel (5-8 times per year; up to 15-20% of time). The position would be based in Washington, DC at the Green America offices.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Design and Implementation of an effective development strategy. Create and execute a comprehensive plan to expand our base of support and achieve fundraising targets for the Center for Sustainability Solutions. Play a direct, lead role in forging productive long-term relationships – yielding significant sustained support – with existing and prospective major donors and foundation executives and government agencies. Achieve fundraising targets for major donors, foundations and government funders. Build relationships based on credibility, trust, and knowledge/understanding of prospective supporters’ values and priorities and how they align with Green America’s mission.

 

Effectively articulate Green America’s mission, objectives, programs, and impacts. Participate in creating compelling, effective fundraising messages and collateral. Effectively convey the organization’s mission, objectives, programs, impacts and asks in one-on-one conversations and with larger groups. Play a significant role in helping to increase Green America’s profile as a green thought/action leader within funding networks.

 

Work with the President & CEO, Center Director, Development Director, and others in Green America’s fundraising efforts. Skills/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 4-6 years of proven high-level major gift fundraising experience.
  • Fundraising experience in the sustainable food/agricultural sector highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with government grant and/or foundations, including conducting research, meeting with program officers, producing successful letters of inquiry, proposals and reports.
  • Demonstrated relationship building experience and solicitation of major gifts ($10,000+).
  • Strong experience with fundraising management tool Raiser’s Edge and Zoho CRM
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and donor databases to manage fundraising efforts, track actions, and build funder relationships.
  • Donor research skills and the ability to effectively identify, segment, and prioritize prospective major donors and foundations.
  • Proven ability to effectively work in coordination with other team leaders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification (or working toward certification) preferred.

The Center for Sustainability Solutions at Green America supports several innovation networks, focused groups of stakeholders with the objective of making significant, industry-wide system change. The program team of the Center for Sustainability Solutions provides the strategic direction, stakeholder engagement program, facilitation and coordination services, and program management for participating individuals and companies in each working group.

The Central States Dairy market initiative is a specific application of our Innovation Network methodology to the supply chain that serves dairy production in the central midwest. Green America will be working with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the supply chain, from seed to cow, to develop an orderly, cost-effective transition to non-GMO feed for large dairies.

Reporting to the Manager, Central States Dairy, the Associate Project Manager will support a wide range of activities to refine the market initiative and translate it into action. Specific tasks may include: conducting landscape and targeted research to understand market dynamics or market opportunities, designing and evaluating research programs, supporting the planning and implementation of stakeholder meetings, coordinating the efforts of external subject matter experts, contributing to project reports, maintaining accurate meeting notes and project records, and other tasks.

Strong candidates for this position will have experience with and passion for developing robust, sustainable food systems. Demonstrated experience in agricultural extension, relationship development, stakeholder engagement and collaborative project work is highly relevant for this position. Experience with supply chain management, field research, dairy systems, or process consulting a significant advantage.

The position may involve occasional domestic travel (3-4 times per year). The position would be based in Washington, DC at the Green America offices or in Boston, MA. Remote work is not available for this position. This is a two-year, grant-funded position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The overall objective of this role is to support and coordinate the implementation of Green America’s supply chain partnership in the midwest. As the Associate Program Manager, this person will work closely with the Manager, Central States Dairy, the Director of Sustainable Food Supply Chains, other Center and Green America staff, and working group participants.

Coordinate Central States Dairy market initiative:

  1. Support efforts to identify and invite participants to the Initiative.
  2. Support research efforts aimed at understanding non-GMO dairy market dynamics, mapping existing supply chain design, assessing agronomic models for non-GMO feed regimes, and identifying industry leaders to engage or follow. May involve on-line research, scheduling and conducting interviews by telephone.
  3. Participate in outreach to farmers, growers, policy makers, and other key stakeholders.
  4. Establish professional working relationships with key players in the network.<
  5. Provide administrative support the Central States Dairy Design Team (support meeting planning and scheduling and ensure Design Team notes are taken, distributed and filed)
  6. Track project progress against goals and timelines using work management software.
  7. Participate in the creation of accurate, high quality deliverables.
  8. Maintain appropriate project confidentiality and manage proprietary information with care.

Participate in activities of Center for Sustainability Solutions:

  1. Attend and contribute to Center meetings.
  2. Attend and contribute to Green America Staff meetings and processes.
  3. Regular reporting to Manager, Central States Dairy and Director, Sustainable Food Supply Chains. Updates to the Center Director or other staff as needed.
  4. Keep accurate records of time and expenses for client billing purposes.

  • At least two (2) years of experience in program management, agricultural program management or extension, management consulting or network coordination.
  • Bachelor's Degree

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of dairy policy or operations; soil science, agronomy, or farming; industrial food supply chains; or non-GMO advocacy (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with current and emerging trends in the agriculture sector, sustainability metrics or measurement, or CSR (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and experience with customer relationship management processes and tools. (essential)
  • Familiarity with Zoho or other CRM; experience with Wrike or other comparable work management platform. (desirable)
